Mason ranked as a top public university

George Mason University is ranked No. 55 nationally and No. 18 in the South in a new evaluation of public colleges by Business First.

According to its website, Business First analyzed 505 public institutions with enrollments greater than 1,000. It used a 22-part formula and the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the five-year version of the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2017 American Community Survey.

Categories evaluated included selectivity, advancement, resources, cost, diversity and community. See the full methodology here.

The impressive ranking comes shortly after Mason’s strong showing in U.S. News & World Report’s graduate program rankings, in which Mason had 12 programs ranked among the top 50 nationally.
