Stephen S. Fuller, director of the Stephen S. Fuller Institute for Research on the Washington Region’s Economic Future at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government, was honored this week for his longtime contributions to the area’s economic development.
The 2018 NOVAForward Award was presented to Fuller by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce during its Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards Ceremony on June 13 at the Tysons Corner Ritz-Carlton.
Described by Washingtonian magazine as “the area’s most influential voice on [economic] matters,” Fuller has written more than 800 articles, papers and reports and for decades produced a monthly newsletter on the performance and near-term outlook of the Washington region’s economy. For that legacy, Fuller received the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s top individual award.
Since moving to the Washington, D.C., area more than 40 years ago, Fuller has built a career researching the region’s economy.
“Receipt of this award acknowledges and validates the value of my four decades of research on the Washington region’s economy and my efforts to assist local business leaders and government officials in making more-informed decisions regarding the future directions of their local economies,” Fuller said.
“It is gratifying,” he said, “to know that my life’s work has been of value.”
