On Saturday, February 24, George Mason University’s Office of Admissions and Honors College will host nearly 1,300 guests on campus for the annual admitted student open house, the Celebration of Excellence. The yearly Celebration of Excellence event offers prospective Honors College students the opportunity to spend a day on campus gaining familiarity with the Honors curriculum, faculty, staff, and students.
The day will begin with remarks by Dean Amy Takayama-Perez, Dean Zofia Burr, and two student speakers, Karmen Perry ’21 and Faysal Shaikh ’18. Prospective students will tour the Mason campus and participate in a browsing session where they can gain insights from representatives from academic departments and student life offices. Admitted students will be able to meet one another and begin forming relationships with the people who may become their classmates and professors at Mason.
Though all admitted students have until May 1 to make a final decision about where to spend four years as an undergraduate, the Celebration of Excellence open house aims to provide answers to students’ lingering questions, and to create an immersive environment where students can experience life as a Patriot. Any admitted Honors College students who have not yet registered for the event, but would like to do so may contact Eva Bramesco at ebramesc@gmu.edu.
