Four George Mason University students have been announced as finalists in the highly competitive Presidential Management Fellows Program.
The program, which began in 1977 and is administered by the Office of Personnel Management, is intended to develop potential government leaders by permitting them to rotate from agency to agency for two years—paid and with benefits—sampling the duties and demands for a few months at a time. At the end, a permanent job or term position is offered.
Last year there were 6,300 applicants from around the country who competed in what OPM calls “an arduous, multi-phase process.” Of those, 417 were selected for the program.
Here are the four Mason students who made the grade in ‘18:
- Steven T. Brantley, JD, Antonin Scalia Law School
- Kirk A. Heffelmire, policy analysis, Schar School of Policy and Government
- Anthony Manno, accounting/finance/budget, School of Business
- Mathew E. Sweet, JD, Antonin Scalia Law School
Finalists will learn of their initial appointments later in the year.
