This Sunday, Sept. 7th, due to a server update, Windows users of Internet Native Banner and Discoverer must upgrade their Java plugin to version 1.7.0_67.
The update should be complete by 11:30AM. After that time, follow the instructions below to upgrade your Java.
1. Go to your Control Panel.
2. Select Programs and Features
3. Select Java (whatever version you have).
4. Click Uninstall.
Note: If you have multiple versions of Java, repeat steps 1-4 until there are none left.
5. Open Internet Explorer.
6. Go to the Internet Native Banner splash page (https://patriotweb.gmu.edu/admin/).
7. Press Ctrl+F5. (This will make sure you are looking at the latest version of the splash page.)
8. Under the For Windows section, click on the text Mason supported version of the Java Plug-in.
9. When the plugin is downloaded, click Run.
10. If a new window pops up asking if you are sure, click Run again.
11. A new window saying Welcome to Java will appear. Click Install.
12. If prompted, click on Close Browsers and Continue. Confirm by clicking OK. Otherwise, go to step 9.
13. Once Java installs, click Close.
14. Open your Control Panel.
15. Select the icon for Java.
16. Click on the Update tab.
17. Uncheck Check for Updates Automatically.
18. Press Do Not Check.
19. Run Internet Native Banner (or Discoverer).
20. If you receive a warning that an Unavailable version of Java was requested, click Run with the latest version.
21. When asked if you would like to Update, Block, or check Later, check the box for Do not ask again until the next update is available.
22. Press Later.
