April 10, 2013
Dear Colleagues,
Last week, I informed you that the ITU would begin the final migration of your existing e-mail to Office 365 on Friday, April 12. Good news! We are on target, and your new e-mail account will be available for use at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, April 12.
What to expect over the weekend and on Monday, April 15
As of 5 p.m. on Friday, you will no longer be able to access your MEMO account. From Friday evening through Sunday, the Project Team will complete the final migration tasks and move all the e-mail that arrived since April 2 to user mailboxes. Once this work is complete, an "all-clear" message will be posted on the Office 365 home page indicating that all of your MEMO e-mail has been copied and your account is fully ready for use. You can log in to your Office 365 e-mail account using a web client (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, etc.) by going to http://office365.gmu.edu.
Office 365 is available over the weekend if you need to access your e-mail; however, please remember that all of the e-mail that has arrived since April 2 may not be in your mailbox until the "all-clear" message is posted.
For more details about the final migration, please go to http://tsd.gmu.edu/services/office365/prepare/launch/index.cfm?sec=2.
Setting up your e-mail client and mobile devices
On Monday, go to http://tsd.gmu.edu/services/office365/configurations/, for instructions to assist you in setting up your Windows or Mac-based e-mail client and your mobile devices.
If you prefer to use an e-mail client on your desktop, we strongly recommend that you use Outlook to take full advantage of all the features of Office 365. If you prefer to continue using Thunderbird, you will need to point Thunderbird toward Office 365. For instructions, please go to http://tsd.gmu.edu/services/office365/configurations/.
Local mail and contacts
For customers who have local mail and contacts in Thunderbird, these can be migrated to Outlook using our migration tool. To access the tool, please go to http://tsd.gmu.edu/services/office365/configurations/.
What is next for the Oracle Calendar?
Files from your existing Oracle calendars have not yet been migrated. If you currently use the Oracle calendar, please continue to do so. If you do not currently use the Oracle calendar, you may begin to use the calendar in Office 365. I will send you more information about the Oracle calendar file migration as soon as I have more information.
