Mac OS X Lion and Mason’s Oracle Calendar

February 1, 2012

If you upgrade to OS X 10.7 (Lion), you will no longer be able to use Mason’s Oracle Calendar Mac client. This is due to changes that Apple has made to the operating system. Oracle, the calendar software vendor, will not be releasing any additional client updates.

Mac users running Lion, including those who have purchased new systems since Lion was released, will be required to use the Oracle Calendar Web client to access their calendars. Visit mail.gmu.edu then click on Corporate Time Calendar to access the calendar web client.

Mac users who run Windows as a virtual OS (using Parallels Desktop or VMware) can install the Oracle Calendar Windows client in the Windows environment. Visit itusupport.gmu.edu/downloads/oracle_c.html to download the Windows version of the calendar client.

Mason is currently exploring options for replacing its faculty and staff e-mail system and enterprise calendar. The current Oracle calendar will be retired upon adoption of the new system.
