Dear Patriots:
Many of you have noticed that we’ve recently been experiencing interruptions in the Mason Wi-Fi network. Information Technology Services (ITS) is working to resolve these issues. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
We know that this is a busy time of year and that students depend on Internet service to prepare for exams. To that end, Mason is taking steps to ensure that students have access to Internet service.
As is our regular practice, ITS will have response teams available 24/7 prior to and during exams week. If you are having problems please call the ITS Support Center at 703-993-8870. If you are calling outside of normal business hours, when asked if it is an emergency, please press 3 when prompted. Please be prepared to provide the following information to the ITS member who answers:
- Location-campus, building, floor, and room
- Time issue first noticed
- Describe the error message or indicator on your screen
If Wi-Fi is unavailable in specific locations when you call, the responder will direct you to those locations where Wi-Fi is available.
ITS and Housing and Residence Life also will be making cables and special adapters available at each main desk at the residence hall groups from tomorrow through exams week, enabling students to access the wired Internet in the dorms.
We apologize again for the inconvenience and wish you the best of luck during exams week.
Sincerely,
Marilyn T. Smith
