Microsoft is releasing Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 users, and will be pushing it out through Windows Update over the next few weeks. Ellucian has not certified Internet Explorer 10 for use with Internet Native Banner.
George Mason is blocking Internet Explorer 10 from all computers on our MESA environment. If you use the same password to log into your computer as you do for your email, you should be on MESA.
If you use Windows 7, and your computer is not connected to MESA, please do not run the update, or if it installs automatically, downgrade to Internet Explorer 9. Instructions for both are below. Windows XP, Windows 8, and Mac Users can ignore this notice.
To ignore the update:
- Open Windows Update
- Click on the link for important updates
- Right click on the update for Internet Explorer 10
- Click on Hide Update
- When Ellucian certifies Internet Explorer 10, we will unblock the update
To uninstall the update:
- Open the Control Panel
- Click on either “Uninstall a program” or “Programs and Features”
- Click on “View installed updates”
- Find “Windows Internet Explorer 10” in the list of updates. It should be under the “Microsoft Windows” section
- Right click on “Windows Internet Explorer 10”
- Select “Uninstall”
- Click “Yes”
- You will need to restart the computer after the process is finished
