To improve security, George Mason University will be increasing the number of applications and systems accessible only on Mason campuses or when connected to a remote-access virtual private network (VPN). In order to facilitate the university community's access to these systems, Information Technology Services has deployed a Cisco VPN gateway for all Mason faculty, staff, and students. The VPN gateway is accessed with Cisco AnyConnect client software. The AnyConnect client will be automatically installed to all university-managed (MESA or Casper) workstations beginning Thursday, October 1, 2015. No action is required for users of Mason-managed systems.
Users not on a managed computer can download the Cisco AnyConnect client to their systems from the downloads page of the ITS Service Catalog: http://itservices.gmu.edu/downloads.
For more information about Cisco AnyConnect and instructions on how to download, install and use the client, please visit the service catalog (http://itservices.gmu.edu/services/view-service.cfm?customel_dataPageID_4609=6169) or contact the ITS Support Center at 703-993-8870 or via email at support@gmu.edu.
