Change to Wireless Networks

February 25, 2015

Information Technology Services is simplifying the campus wireless network configuration. When finished, the university will see only three broadcast wireless networks: MASON-SECURE, MASON, and eduroam. The MASON-RESNET, MASON-RESNET-SECURE, and the PUBLIC-PRINT wireless networks will all be retired. To facilitate an easy transition, ITS recommends all students, faculty, and staff reconfigure their devices to use MASON-SECURE or MASON.

Wifi printers that connect to the PUBLIC-PRINT wireless network will need to be reconfigured to connect to MASON. Personal wifi printers accessed from wifi or from wired networks in residence halls can be registered via the mydevices portal at https://mydevices.gmu.edu. Departmental wifi printers that are shared within a business unit office must be registered through the Support Center using the Public Printer Network Access process for wireless printers. Please contact the Support Center or see the Service Catalog article for more details.

This change will take place during the network maintenance window on Sunday, March 8, 2015.
