Call for Departmental Technology Coordinators!

April 3, 2013

ITU is refreshing the university-wide Technology Coordinator Group, whose purpose is to work closely with ITU on major technology initiatives, as well as coordinate with ITU on departmental technology matters. The Technology Coordinator Group serves as a forum for the coordinators and ITU to communicate technology ideas, issues, concerns, and to learn from each other. A Technology Coordinator is similar to a Telecom Coordinator in many respects, only covering a broader range of topics.

ITU is asking that each department appoint an individual to the Technology Coordinator Group.
The Technology Coordinators will be:

  • The department's point of contact for ITU regarding technology matters;
  • Invited to participate in ITU-sponsored technology training;
  • Asked to coordinate departmental informational and technical requirements for ITU projects;
  • Encouraged to attend Technology Coordinator Group meetings.

The benefits to the Technology Coordinators and the department are:

  • An opportunity to learn about the technologies used by the university;
  • Participation in a forum for discussing technology issues with peers and representatives from ITU;
  • Receiving current information from ITU on projects and initiatives.
  • A Technology Coordinator should have an interest in technology, be willing to learn about technology, and take responsibility for communicating with the department what is discussed in the coordinators' meetings.

Technology Coordinator Group meetings are held as needed a few times per year.
When selecting the Technology Coordinator for your department, please consider the following. This is an opportunity for your department to work more closely with ITU so that ITU can better understand your needs and desires. It is also a means for ITU to communicate with you about technology initiatives that are planned, as well as those that are already underway.

To sign up as a technology coordinator for your department, please email webmaster@gmu.edu and include the name of the department you will be representing.

We encourage current technology coordinators to fill it out as well so they may provide feedback to help us improve the group.
