U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) will be the guest at the next installment of the “Conversations with Tyler” series with Tyler Cowen at George Mason University.
The dialogue takes place 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at the Founders Hall auditorium at Mason’s Arlington Campus.
Cowen is an economist, professor and general director of the Mercatus Center think tank at Mason who conducts wide-ranging, on-stage conversations with thought leaders from a diversity of backgrounds. Previous guests in the “Conversations” series include Peter Thiel, Nate Silver, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Camille Paglia and Malcolm Gladwell. (Previous talks are available on the Mercatus events page.)
Sasse is a freshman U.S. senator and first-time politician from Nebraska. He is a former president of Midland University near Omaha. A graduate of Yale University and Harvard University, he has also studied at the University of Oxford and St. John’s College.
Cowen said he intends to ask the fifth-generation Nebraskan about the history of his home state, the significance of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s 1762 treatise “Emile: or, On Education,” his thoughts on why the cost of college continues to climb, driving for Uber (for charity) and concepts in Sasse’s new book, “The Vanishing American Adult: Our Coming-of-Age Crisis.”
