George Mason University continues its winning streak in 2017 by securing the WorldatWork Work-Life Seal of Distinction for the sixth consecutive year.
Mason received the award for its commitment in many areas, including creating innovative programs and a positive workplace, culture initiatives and community involvement, according to nonprofit human resources association WorldatWork.
“There’s a whole host of categories being assessed,” said Janet Walker, life/work connections manager for Mason’s Human Resources and Payroll, the office accepting the award on behalf of Mason. “It’s really a nice way of benchmarking as a university.”
Mason offers a range of opportunities including flexible work, tuition waiver, well-being seminars, and family support programs such as the Kids Camp. Through its health insurance programs, Mason offers an Employee Assistance Program, which can provide guidance on legal and financial services, eldercare, childcare, mental health, retirement and more.
“Mason is honored to be recognized by WorldatWork with its 2017 Work-Life Seal of Distinction for the sixth year. The entire Mason community contributes to the work/life experience, and we are excited to celebrate our caring, supportive and collaborative university community,” said Linda Harber, vice president of human resources, payroll and faculty/staff life.
“The university’s leave policies, flexibility and training programs are all areas that helped it earn this distinction,” Walker said.
Mason and other employers will be recognized for their work at the 2017 Celebrate Excellence Breakfast at the WorldatWork 2017 Total Rewards Conference in Washington, D.C., on May 9.
