Mason's Burge is president-elect of national admissions association

David Burge, George Mason University’s vice president for enrollment management, was voted president-elect of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, at the association’s national conference in Columbus, Ohio.

Burge will assume the presidency in September 2017, when he begins a three-year term on the NACAC board of directors.

“I believe in the mission and goals of the NACAC,” he said of the organization dedicated to helping students make choices about pursuing postsecondary education. “Our work is focused on one of the most important intersections of the American, if not human, experience, crossing the bridge from high school or community college to higher education in pursuit of a better life.”

Burge said he supports re-doubling ongoing efforts to ensure the association remains inclusive and expands its outreach to all members, which includes, among others, transfer advisors, international teachers and staff, and public school counselors.

“I believe what we do matters, and the way we do it matters even more,” Burge said. “I am interested in furthering the ideals of the organization and the profession at large, helping in any way I can.”
