A week’s worth of rejuvenating events for the mind and body are planned for April at George Mason University. The third annual Spring into Well-Being celebration will be held April 6-13.
This year’s theme is “Six Days/Six Domains of Well-Being” with each day focusing on one of six themes: physical, psychological, social, community, career and financial.
About two dozen events are planned during the week, which is organized by George Mason’s Center for the Advancement of Well-Being in partnership with a number of other departments and offices including Human Resources and Payroll, University Life, and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
“There’s something for everybody. We’re hoping when someone looks at the schedule of events they’ll see themselves,” said Janet Walker, work/life connections manager for Human Resources and Payroll.
The social and community domains of Spring Into Well-Being will be highlighted April 8 and April 11, respectively. Mary Elizabeth Lynch will lead a well-being and resilience workshop for the campus community from 9 to noon on April 8 in Research Hall, Room 163.
"What we know intuitively and what the science points to is that other people matter when it comes to our own happiness and well-being,” said Brandice Valentino, director of well-being programs at Mason’s Center for the Advancement of Well-Being. “This robust and diverse initiative provides many opportunities for our Mason community to engage in the mindsets and connections that provide everyone with a direct experience of what thriving together feels like on all of our campuses."
April 11 is Good Deeds Day at Mason. This community day of service promotes what people do to bring goodness into the lives of others and celebrates the importance of giving back to the community.
