Ohio governor and GOP presidential hopeful John Kasich brought his town hall forum to George Mason University’s Hub Ballroom on the Fairfax Campus Monday morning, just eight days before the Virginia primary.
George Mason rector Tom Davis, who has been friends with the governor since they served in Congress together, introduced Kasich to the standing-room-only audience of about 900 Mason students, staff and community members. Kasich delivered an unscripted 30-minute recap of his early career and political successes before taking questions from the audience.
Kasich is the latest presidential candidate to appear at Mason this campaign season. Previous candidates who have held events at Mason include Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Jim Webb, George Pataki, Jim Gilmore, Lawrence Lessig and Lincoln Chafee, who used his appearance at Mason to announce his Democratic candidacy.
