C-SPAN’s high-tech bus brings election information to Mason’s Fairfax Campus

The C-SPAN Bus rolls onto George Mason University’s Fairfax Campus from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29. The bus will be parked at the North Plaza near the Johnson Center and will be open for visits by Mason students and staff.

Much of the 45-foot red, white, and blue bus is loaded with interactive technology that allows visitors to deepen their knowledge about the current presidential campaigns and the federal government in general.

The nonpartisan national cable network—funded by cable television—welcomes visitors onto the bus to explore current politics and to get a behind-the-scenes look at how a C-SPAN segment is produced in the field.

In addition to providing the educational resources, a social media campaign at #CSPANvoices features videos of students answering questions about what is important to them in this election cycle. Mason students will be interviewed and their thoughts will be posted.

The cable network has timed the exhibit’s arrival for the March 1 primary in Virginia, which should heighten interest in the material offered on the bus.
