George Mason University’s EagleBank Arena is ranked among the likes of Barclays Center Arena in Brooklyn and Washington, D.C.’s Verizon Center in terms of racking up big ticket sales.
EagleBank Arena, located on George Mason’s Fairfax Campus, is ranked as one of the top 100 venues in the world for ticket sales, according to Pollstar Magazine, a trade publication covering the concert industry.
The arena is ranked number 74 on the list with 213,633 tickets sold for 2015, according to Pollstar.
The magazine’s list of the top 200 venues in the world for 2015 tickets sales can be found here.
“It’s another great year at EagleBank Arena; we are fortunate to provide a diverse schedule of events that entertain the university, the Northern Virginia community and the Washington metro area,” said general manager Barry Geisler.
The building’s excellent staff and its location in one of the most affluent areas in the country are reasons for the high ticket sales, he added.
The 10,000-seat arena is the highest-ranking venue that is not the largest arena in its market.
The year 2015 was one of notable changes for the venue, which received a new name in July, shortly after its namesake announced a multimillion dollar partnership with Mason.
In addition to creating jobs and internships, the agreement means a minimum $6.6 million commitment by EagleBank to Mason over the next decade. EagleBank can extend the agreement for up to 20 years, thus providing $13.7 million in funding to the university.
