During the week of July 6, construction will begin on the Academic VII Building, the future home of the College of Health and Human Services. Parking Lot H is scheduled to close on Wednesday, July 8. Information on alternative parking options can be found at parking.gmu.edu/pdfrule2015/LotHclosureinfo.pdf.
Multiple phases of road closures and detours will occur on the northwest part of the Fairfax Campus as Patriot Circle is rebuilt to the south of its current location between George Mason Boulevard and Aquia Creek Lane. As part of the road work, Occoquan River Lane will be realigned, and George Mason Boulevard will be widened. Access to Lot I will be changed and may be limited at times.
Other impacts include the closure of the small reserved/administrative parking lot, motorcycle parking, and disabled parking near Finley Building and Thompson Hall. The regular metered visitor parking spaces by Finley will be converted to disabled spaces for permit holders and visitors. During a later phase, this parking lot will be closed and rebuilt.
The Chesapeake River Lane shuttle stop across from Merten Hall may be closed or relocated at times during construction.
From early July to mid-August, Patriot Circle will be closed between George Mason Boulevard and Aquia Creek Lane. This will be reopened for the start of the semester, but will close again on or around September 15. It will stay closed for the remainder of the roadwork.
After August, there will be several more phases of road closures and detours. Pedestrian paths will also be detoured during the road construction, which will last into the spring 2016 semester.
Periodic updates will be sent to the Mason community. Information will be regularly posted at building.gmu.edu.
